what would be a good digital slr camera for a beginner?

Question by malgal: what would be a good digital slr camera for a beginner?
I am interested in photography as a hobby and I am just a beginner. What would be a good digital slr camera to start out with? I don’t want something too cheap but it doesn’t have to be fancy either.

Don’t worry about being a beginner. Get the best digital camera that you can afford. Make sure that it has the capability to go from completely automatic to completely manual shooting, with partial automatic settings too. You can start with fully automatic shooting and progress to more creative photography as you get acquainted with the fundamentals of photography (get a book explaining digital photography techniques). The Canon Rebel is a great camera, as are the Nikon and Sony cameras. I feel that for the price however, Canon is the best. Again, just make sure that whichever you choose, it goes from being completely automatic to completely manual, and everything in between.

Cheap Digital SLR Cameras under $500 for beginner photographers?

Question by : Cheap Digital SLR Cameras under 0 for beginner photographers?
My dad was gonna get me an iPhone for my straight A grades but I’ve been thinking about getting a DSLR instead?
Soooooo? Preferably above 10 megapixels?

Comments? Suggestions?

You are one of many who seem to set their dSLR budget at $ 500. If you check, the very least expensive dSLR costs $ 550 and the ones with the most bang for the buck start at $ 700

Look at the Nikon D3100 or Canon T1i/500D. Visit a camera store and test them in your hands to see which you like the best

Can anyone advised what’s the best digital slr camera should i choose for a beginner like me?

Question by smt_ism: Can anyone advised what’s the best digital slr camera should i choose for a beginner like me?
I’m starting to love photography. I have a Fuji S7000 and a Canon ixus70. Been taking photos for relatives and friends in weddings, birthday parties and families outdoor activities such as BBQ parties for the last 2 years. Thought of getting myself a digital slr camera to explore more on best photography.

If you aren’t invested in lenses for an SLR then I suggest looking seriously at the Sony A100 and Pentax K100D Super.

The A100 is 10mp, has Super Anti-Shake in the camera body, has dust removal for the sensor and accepts every Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985. It also accepts many of the Maxxum accessories.

The K100D Super is 6.1mp, has Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body, has dust removal for the sensor, and you can use every K-mount lens made since 1975. Of course the older lenses will be manual focus but they will have the benefit of IS.

Since the introduction of the Sony A700 and Pentax K10D the A100 & K100D Super should be dropping in price. However, careful shopping might find the K10D and A700 available for a reasonable price.

Best SLR Camera for a beginner 2010?

Question by J80: Best SLR Camera for a beginner 2010?
I have been searching through so many reviews and still not 100% sure which to choose :(

My budget is £350 and so far the ones that have interested me have been Nikon P90/P100
I am looking for a camera that is not too heavy, easy to use, produces clear crisp photos and good for macro, landscape, portraits
What do you suggest?

Thanks :)
Thanks fhotoace
In that case, could you reccommend a dslr camera?

Best answer:

Answer by fhotoace
I guess the first thing we need to tell you is the P90/P100 is NOT a dSLR. It is what is called by some, a “SLR-like”, but indeed it still has a tiny sensor when compared to a dSLR that has a sensor over 15 times larger than a SLR-like camera and it is not able to use interchangeable lenses. These two features are what distinguishes a dSLR form all other digital cameras.

NOTE: For clarity, a SLR refers to a 35 mm SLR and a dSLR is the digital version of it.

At present the Nikon D5000, Pentax K-x and Canon XS are most purchased of the under $ 1,000 USD cameras.

If you do not mind the smaller sensor or the lack of interchangeable lenses, the P100 is the better choice of the two base on its exceptional reach provided by the P100 24x optical zoom

What is a good beginner Digital SLR camera?

Question by ﻉ√٥ﺎ: What is a good beginner Digital SLR camera?
I love photography & taking many pictures and also editing them on computer software. I only have had digital point-and-shoot cameras, the quality of the pictures are really bad. I really want to upgrade and experience using a Digital SLR camera. I don’t really know much about them, and was wondering what a good beginner one would be? Im only 16 so my budget is kind of tight so I would be looking for something on the cheaper side. Could anyone recommend something & where to buy it.
Thanks :D

What is the best SLR camera for a beginner?

Question by PrettyVampie: What is the best SLR camera for a beginner?
I am going to be taking a photography course in the next academic year, and for me to do this I need an SLR camera. I know a little bit about them, mainly from what friends are currently teaching me.

But I don’t really know which type to use for starting off so that I don’t get swamped or confused too soon in learning.

All help is appreciated.
Digital is preferred.
I already know that its a digital course.

But I will also in the future be doing film as well.

Answer by Taylor
Before spending any money on a camera, email/talk to the teacher of the photography class you’ll be taking and find out if you’ll be shooting film or digital. The Rebel T3 and Nikon D3100 are two good entry-level DSLRs. If you’ll shooting film, ask the teacher what he/she recommends.

Is the canon EOS1000D with a 18-55 lens a good choice for an enthusiastic beginner?

Question by ♥S♥: Is the canon EOS1000D with a 18-55 lens a good choice for an enthusiastic beginner?
I’m getting my first SLR digital camera & want to get something i can effectively learn with & depend on for great quality photos..

i was thinking of getting the Nikon D90, which is obviously a much better choice…however I found a great offer for the Canon EOS 1000D bundled with a 18-55 lens… the offer was too good to ignore & would help me save over $ 1000

I’m planning to use it for the next 2 years, mainly to learn photography skills with it. What do you pros recommend? & is it a good camera or should i stick with the Nikon D90?

Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Mark
Yes, it’s great for an enthusiastic beginner! That’s who the camera is aimed at. I don’t think the D90 is $ 1,000 better than the EOS 1000D.
Also consider buying a 50mm 1.8 lens.

What is the best and cheapest Digital SLR for a beginner?

Question by : What is the best and cheapest Digital SLR for a beginner?
I’ve always loved photography but only had my little samsung digital camera, which is good for just taking around and photos with friends and family. I’ve recently decided i’ve wanted a proper camera for taking more professional shots as i have just joined a photography class and want a new camera.

Please be as cheap as possible but good quality at the same time.

best: Hasselblad H4D-200MS at $ 45,000

cheapest: Canon Rebel Xs and Nikon D3000, both at around $ 500
other ones to look at:
Nikons D5000, D3100, D5100
Canons T3, T1i, T2i, T3i

even the cheapest DSLRs are quality and have the capacity to take excellent pictures when used correctly. Hold each in your hand and see which one has the features you want at the price that you want to pay, as well as seeing which one is overall more comfortable for you to use

What’s a good beginner Digital SLR camera for around $400?

Question by : What’s a good beginner Digital SLR camera for around 0?
I have been looking at them I have considered a Sony a230, or a330. Maybe a Nikon d100 or something like that. The only problem with the Sony’s are the aftermarket lenses are really expensive.
What do you guys think would be some good starter cameras
Thank you for your help in advanced.

Answer by fhotoace
You may be able to find a good used Nikon D100 with lens for under $ 400. Look on craigslist in a city near you. Be sure to take a CF card with you so you can test the camera before you actually had over your money.
