Is the canon EOS1000D with a 18-55 lens a good choice for an enthusiastic beginner?

Question by ♥S♥: Is the canon EOS1000D with a 18-55 lens a good choice for an enthusiastic beginner?
I’m getting my first SLR digital camera & want to get something i can effectively learn with & depend on for great quality photos..

i was thinking of getting the Nikon D90, which is obviously a much better choice…however I found a great offer for the Canon EOS 1000D bundled with a 18-55 lens… the offer was too good to ignore & would help me save over $ 1000

I’m planning to use it for the next 2 years, mainly to learn photography skills with it. What do you pros recommend? & is it a good camera or should i stick with the Nikon D90?

Thanks!

Answer by Mark
Yes, it’s great for an enthusiastic beginner! That’s who the camera is aimed at. I don’t think the D90 is $ 1,000 better than the EOS 1000D.
Also consider buying a 50mm 1.8 lens.

What is the best and cheapest Digital SLR for a beginner?

Question by : What is the best and cheapest Digital SLR for a beginner?
I’ve always loved photography but only had my little samsung digital camera, which is good for just taking around and photos with friends and family. I’ve recently decided i’ve wanted a proper camera for taking more professional shots as i have just joined a photography class and want a new camera.

Please be as cheap as possible but good quality at the same time.

best: Hasselblad H4D-200MS at $ 45,000

cheapest: Canon Rebel Xs and Nikon D3000, both at around $ 500
other ones to look at:
Nikons D5000, D3100, D5100
Canons T3, T1i, T2i, T3i

even the cheapest DSLRs are quality and have the capacity to take excellent pictures when used correctly. Hold each in your hand and see which one has the features you want at the price that you want to pay, as well as seeing which one is overall more comfortable for you to use

What’s a good beginner Digital SLR camera for around $400?

Question by : What’s a good beginner Digital SLR camera for around 0?
I have been looking at them I have considered a Sony a230, or a330. Maybe a Nikon d100 or something like that. The only problem with the Sony’s are the aftermarket lenses are really expensive.
What do you guys think would be some good starter cameras
Thank you for your help in advanced.

You may be able to find a good used Nikon D100 with lens for under $ 400. Look on craigslist in a city near you. Be sure to take a CF card with you so you can test the camera before you actually had over your money.

Good film SLR camera for a beginner?

Question by : Good film SLR camera for a beginner?
I’m going to London and Paris this spring, and I’m interested in taking some film photographs when I’m there. I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews about the toy film cameras that you can buy, and I was looking for some possible options for a solid beginners film SLR camera, and maybe some tips to start using it! Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Jim A
That’s correct, the toys are just toys.

Canon and Nikon make excellent 35mm cameras. But since most on line sites that I’ve seen no longer carry them, shop a good local camera store. They can help you more than we can.

What is the best affordable beginner D-SLR camera, in your opinion?

Question by musikchik: What is the best affordable beginner D-SLR camera, in your opinion?
I am very interested in purchasing a digital SLR camera to learn with. I have taken a photography class and would like to experiment more creatively with a digital SLR so I would say I am a beginner. I am mainly looking at Canon and Nikon. I have other Canon products which I am very happy with but the D-SLRs are a bit on the pricey side from my budget right now, however I do hear that they have the widest range of lenses. So my questions: 1) What are the main differences between the Canon Rebel series and say the 20 or 30D models? 2) Is a Nikon 80D comparable to a Canon 30D? What would you say is the best one for a beginner? 3) If I see a good price on a camrea body alone, should I take it and then invest on a good lens or start off with a kit? — The cameras that are attractive to me in terms of affordability are the Canon 20D and Nikon D40.

Q&A: What digital SLR camera would you recommend for a beginner?

Question by KitKat: What digital SLR camera would you recommend for a beginner?
I am 15 and have never photographed professionally before (apart form my 2.0 mega pixel phone camera) but I really want to start
I would like a Digital SLR camera but my budget is only £140 – I wouldn’t mind getting it second hand but you never know on the internet whether sources are trustworthy.

Ideally the camera should be small and lightweight (and not too breakable!!)

It doesn’t even need to be SLR but I would like it to be good quality
What would you recommend?

Q&A: What is the best beginner digital SLR camera?

Question by Smiley Smilesツ: What is the best beginner digital SLR camera?
I have decided to upgrade from an average point and shoot camera to a digital SLR camera but I do not know which one would be affordable and easy to use. So far I have researched two camera’s and just need input and advice of these choices. Feel free to suggest others or share your opinions about the two I have already choosen. Pros and Cons of these would be helpful also if anyone can tell me the difference between them that would be nice! Thanks in advance! =)

1. Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS
2. Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi

Answer by edyyrules
Those two are really just the same just some minor features that don’t make a difference to begginers. Also an average camera can become great with a good lens and lenses that come in lens kits aren’t always the best…. if you wanna check out more entry DSLRs check this sight out http://www.cameralabs.com/buyers_guide/budget_DSLRs/best_budget_DSLR.shtml

What is the best SLR camera for a beginner photographer?

Question by flower_power: What is the best SLR camera for a beginner photographer?
I am very engaged in this activity and I already own a small camera, but I think I’m ready for a more professional camera now.
I’ve done some research and stopped on Canon EOS D50 or maybe, D400/450, Nicon 80D, and Leica V-LUX 1.
What would you suggest me?
P.S. and also which lenses would be better for me?

Get the camera that you feel fits your hands best and you think is easiest to use.

By the way, the Leica isn’t an SLR but it is a very high quality camera.

What is the best SLR digital camera for a beginner that won’t cost my soul?

Question by puglove: What is the best SLR digital camera for a beginner that won’t cost my soul?
I have been using a basic manual 35mm camera but it is becoming quite expensive to process and get prints. I am kind of an idiot with technoloy but would like a good SLR digital camera that has a manual feature and can be fitted with different lenses. What would be a good one for a beginner that may be affordable?

Best answer:

Answer by Jeroen Wijnands
Affordable is very relative. I think the Nikon D3100 is a very good buy at the moment. But, perhaps you got lenses with your film camera you’d want to reuse in which case you will need to tell us a bit more about your current camera and lenses.
